What is the best way to delete applications from my hard drive, so that I don't have parts in different places like on windows

Most programs look like one file, but are actually "packages" in which many files reside. Usually you just need to drag the folder/file to the trash. Some programs have other associated files - in which case you can use an uninstaller or just search for and delete the files yourself.

You can use AppDelete.
