Hi

I have a VCD that I want to record to my hard disc, then use the movie in iMovie, and finally iDVD.

The VCD has a file which is a .dat that will play in VLC I have tried converting the file in FFMPEG, iSquint and VLC itself.

The result is either instant conversion and an invalid file that will not open, or normal conversion time and an invalid file that does not open either.

I have even tried converting to AVI with VLC, then converting that AVI to MOV using FFMPEG, this does not work either. Is there maybe another file I should be using to do the conversion other than the .dat file, its 500mb, the only really large file on the disc.

Thanks for any help

What other files are on the disc?

Also, try using VLC to change the file to .mp4..select mpeg-4 codec for both video and audio, when that file is created, import it to iMovie, no further conversion needed.
