A few months ago I wanted to give Linux a try... I was worried that since most of my friends are on MSN, I wouldn't be able to chat with them. I soon found that aMSN was available and boasted the same features that the Windows Messenger had.

Anyways long story short, I didn't go into Linux full on... I came to the Mac side (Hooray!)... I got the Microsoft Messenger for Mac and soon found it without quite a bit of features.

After seeing the forums here, I found out about Adium and aMSN....
I like Adium... but I don't know how to set the chat logs....
I tried to download the latest aMSN but the file I'm downloading doesn't work....
Any ideas why???

OK...
finally got aMSN working.... it turns out that the latest version does not support 10.3.9 Panther.
So... I got 0.96...

Anyways....
Does anyone know how to install skins on this version???
I'm not too keen on the default one that I got...and I saw some on the site that I would like to install.

Adium may not have some of the features that aMSN has like Audio and Video, but it feels better.
Another thing I did not like about aMSN was that it felt rather tacky and took up quite a bit of resources.

Just bring back this thread as there is alot to be checked out.
I've tried Adium, aMSN and Messenger:Mac
I love adium's simplicity and feel
But I also love the new aMSN's feel as well and the features its got.
One feature I find completely useful for me is offline messaging.
I need that one and if Adium has that covered, I'm sticking with it. If not, I'm gonna have to switch to aMSN... Sorry.

Anyone has any ideas???

Had alot of opinions of which was preferred. Yes I agree that Adium is the best.
I need to know who does it compare with aMSN's features and are they available with it?

I went through the most awful ordeal just now with aMSN.
I tried it out. It was alright at first. Enjoyed the features and the ability to read most of the emoticons like hearts, etc. Adium still doesn't have that except for the basic ones.
However I tried to uninstall aMSN and it wouldn't remove itself from my trash. Kept claiming that a .dylib file was in use. The app wasn't even running. No app was running at the time.
I anyways triumphed over it and got rid of it.
I cannot say that it is entirely aMSN's fault though. It could be for some error while installing it.

My verdict on aMSN. Good but Adium is better
