new ipod firmware?

i have a 5th gen
think they will realease a firmware with cover flow?

I highly doubt it since it runs on a revamped interface altogether.

Nah, they've very rarely backported features of new iPod to the old ones...

Can the 5th gen iPods even handle it? It might not have enough power...

I won't be too long before someone tries to flash the new firmware on old hardware to see if it works. We'll just have to wait for some brave soul to try it.

The 5G uses portalplayer chips, while the classic uses Samsung/Apple custom chip, so highly unlikely. Apple didn't even bother to put gapless on the 1G nano even though it has the same chip as the 5G (which luckily got gapless playback).
