Icon question

This might be posted else where but I could't find what I was looking for.

So I am looking for some help in making custom icons.


I can get the right size to work in the dock but I can only seem to get them with a white background, I would like to have a clear background like the rest of the icons.

SAve them as png files first. Then convert them to the appropriate icon extension....icns i think. I hope im right on thsi one. lol.
