Searched the threads and found nothing. My iMac G5 stopped accepting cds/dvds/media in general this morning. Was in XP through Bootcamp, ejected a cd and went to insert another and it would not accept. Rebooted and problem persists! Apple said it 'could' be a hardware problem, but I'd rather look to others for assistance before spending $50 for them to tell me what files to delete.

please advise.

Have you tried reparing permissions or booting up with the OS X cd and running a repair (I dunno if that'll work though cause it might not read the disc). But those are two things worth looking into.

And what does console say when it tries to read a cd/dvd?
