    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

You are probably dealing with an MPEG2 format, and you can either buy the quicktime2component from Apple for $20, or you can use a program to covert it called VLC.

I have a link for both in my site, and instructions on how to convert it using different software as well. See the link in my sig.

Can you convert the video from Quicktime into some other format, and then (separately) convert the audio into a 44.1khz stereo AIFF? Import both into iMovie and place them into the timeline or however iMovie works (I don't know because that program confuses me).

Check out the Link in my signature. In there I have a tutorial on how to use VLC to convert from cue/bin to mp4, but it will work with mpg to mp4 also. Just replace the .bin with .mpg in my instructions.
