As long as it's in good shape, it sounds like a great deal to me.

I just got a 233MHz iMac for $60 last week and its well worth it. For an additional $100 you can upgrade the RAM (to 256MB), upgrade the VRAM (additional 4MB) and put an 80GB internal Hard Drive in it and you're all set.

I'm running 9.2.2 & 10.3.4 on mine. You can max out the ram to 512, replace the CD with a CD/RW and swap in a larger hard drive. Total upgrade cost will be about $350. It won't match an eMac or an iMac G4 but it will perform well for about half the price.

That price sounds a little high to me, here is what I did:

256MB RAM upgrade $52
4MB VRAM upgrad $8.99
80GB Western Digital Hard Drive $49 (after rebate from CompUSA last week)
--Optional CD RW $29 at newegg.com

All that for under $150 and you still have a more-than-worthy machine.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, $350 Canadian, about $225 USD. However, your price for a CD-RW was great, far below the price I paid for an MCE replacement. In any case the point is that the original iMacs can still provide years of satisfactory service for a minimum investment.
