uhh... does this not make sense to anyone else? do you want to have multiple desktops as in spaces, that comes with the new 10.5 or do you just want your desktop picture to switch every so often? or something completely different?

I don't think it's possible with Tiger but when Leopard comes out it's a built in feature.

There are virtual desktop apps for Tiger. Only they are not built into the OS.

There is a great shareware product called YouControl Desktops. Check it out at:

http://www.yousoftware.com/desktops/desktops.php

It is $29 shareware and worth every penny. You get multiple desktops, a menu bar pager AND the same sort of cube spinning (and other) transition effects that Compiz/Beryl are so justifiably famous for in Linux-land. I have used it daily nearly since I got my Mac over a year ago. It is rock solid.

Check out my Linux to Mac switchers guide at:

http://www.campbell-tx.net/MacOSX/Linux2Mac/linux2mac.html

Its all in there and lots more too! Nearly an essential read for someone coming to Macs from Linux. BTW, suggestions for improvements/additions/etc. most welcomed. Its not a Wiki, but I will gladly add to it if there are parts that are missing or could be improved.

Virtue Desktops is all ya need. It's a great program, I just don't have much use for it. It does do a great job at making friends get jealous tho.
