As above.

Can anyone help out as I've never done it before for Mac - only Windows.

Step by step instructions on how to do it for both Macbook Pro and iMac (If they differ) would be great.

Thanks in advance

Just pop in the iMac restore DVD that came with the machine, and while starting the machine press "C". This will take you to the Live OS which has disk utility and a straightforward, very straighforward installation process.

Three options: Upgrade | Archive and Install | Erase and install

The first one upgrades the OS leaving all your previous files intact
The second installs a brand new OS, but keeps your files in a separate folder
the third one does a complete formate. All data is deleted.

I've tried doing this, but when I get to the installation message it read Installation not available on this computer.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you are using the disc that came with your machine? Cause if you use someone else's, it won't work.

I am actually trying to load tiger onto my iBook G4. The installation disk is iBook G4 specific. I purchased the disks 2nd hand. Does this mean if they have been used once they won't allow you to install on another computer?
Sorry for the questions but I'm not very tech savvy
