• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I've put over half a dozen videos on YouTube that I've edited with iMovie. I know that iMovie '08 has a special setting that formats the movie for the correct size specifically for YouTube... for older versions just export the video for the "web" format which will compress it to a smaller file size. Remember, YouTube has a 10min (or 100MB - I think) limit so if you're trying to upload something larger than either of those then that's your problem.

Otherwise it should work fine.

I have iMovie HD, not iMovie '08. Can you only do it with iMovie '08?

If so, how much does iMovie '08 cost?

Looks like your impatience keeps you from actually reading. If you look closely at what Sexy Patrol said, you have to choose the Export for web option in older versions of iMovie.

And to get the latest version of iLife (which includes iMovie 08) it will cost you $79

Nevermind that, I just took the file, opened it in QuickTime Pro then formated it for YouTube.
Thanks for the help anyway. :)

Try Blender, it's free, I'm not an animator, so no idea how good it is, or easy to use, but seems to have some good documentation.

Give iMovie a try??

I mean it basically looks like a succession of quick edit of animation videos, so any video editor should be able to handle it.

I am afraid to click any links in this thread. Is it just Youtube videos of people's poop or something?

EDIT: Just read Aptmunich's link. I will not bother asking "why" and will instead take my leave.
