I have a red light coming from my headphone port. What is it?

so you can use an optical set of head phones.

I am assuming you are using a macbook pro?

i will be truthful and tell you i wont know how to turn it off. I'd try to put a normal head set in there to reset it.

It's for hooking it up to a receiver, like a surround sound that has an optical input. To my knowledge there are no optical headphones.
