• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey guys I downloaded a video but it downloaded as a couple files...bin & cue - which I know I can watch on my mac using VLC player but I want to export or convert into a file that I can burn to a DVD to play on a DVD player. I have the newest version of Toast (which won't allow me to do it). I have quicktime pro so if I could open the files to view in that I could export but im stuck so I either want to know

1.) How to burn bin/cue to a DVD on a mac

or

2.) How to convert bin/cue to avi, mp4, mov, etc. on a mac

pleeeeease help!!

The .bin and .cue files are what you need to burn the DVD. Open Toast and select an option that says "Burn DVD From image". Then select the file and your on your way. I don't have Toast but it should allow the capability of burning from an image.

You can't convert .bin or .cue files because they are not video files but cd images.

UHM! it worked but not exactly how you said it so for anyone that wants to burn a movie that is in a BIN/CUE format to a DVD on a mac HERE:

1. Open toast
2. Utilities > Mount Disc Image
3. Locate BIN file and mount to desktop
4. In toast click on "VIDEO" on the left hand side
5. Click "DVD Video"
6. Drag "CD Image" from desktop to toast
7. BURN!

so weird! THANK YOU SO MUCH Eric!!!

Glad to know it worked out. I didn't have Toast on my computer so I couldn't do a step by step for you. Glad you posted one though!
