Hi All,
Apologies is this has all been covered before...

My situation is that I have a PC desktop and a new shiny macbook..

I would like to buy Windows Vista home premium..

My questions are:

1: Will this version of Vista run on the macbook with boot camp?

2: Will I be able to use one copy of Vista on both computers or will I need to buy an additional licence?

3: Would buying an OEM disk be recommended? I read OEM is locked to the motherboard?

4: Is it possible to re-install multiple times on the same machine? I like to re-install windows every so often to keep it running as fast as possible....

5: Is the macbook a "64 Bit" processor?...I am a bit confused about all that!

Thanks in advance for an pointers! =)

1. Yes, I believe so

2. You need a license per computer

3. Don't know that one

4. Yes, but you may need to reactivate it

5. Yes, if it's the recent ones with a Core 2 Duo - Core 2 processors are 64-bit.

Hi Knightlie,

Thanks for the replies, Aaah life is complicated!

I tried using Ubuntu but got annoyed with it being so locked down!

Seems like Vista is quite good looking and got to upgrade from XP at some point.

Has anyone got an ideas for question 3?

The OEM version is a bit cheaper and if I need to buy additional licenses anyway...Does anyone know if OEM allows for additional licenses?

I might have a look if I can email Microsoft directly...

Thanks again!

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM versions of Vista will be indentical to the retail version, however OEM Licence states it has to be sold as a package i.e.with piece of hardware. OEM versions of Windows are usually only locked to motherboards if sold with a PC/Laptop.
