I read somewhere that Final Cut Pro is 9 DVDs. If so, why is it so big? What needs to be installed on the hard drive?

theres alot, there final cut pro, live type, motion, dvd studio pro, sound track pro, and media (templates, royalty free graphics, music, sound effects) etc.

The applications are only one disc; the others are content and tutorials. They're not essential to install, but I'd advise it to get the most out of all the apps.
