Can you feel the difference? Is it just like having more Ghz?

Is it all about speed? What makes it so great?

Would an intel core 2 duo w/ 2 ghz be as fast as an intel core duo with 2.4 ghz?

All other things being equal, there is not a huge difference. The C2D offers about 5 - 15% real world performance increase at the same clock speed, in Tiger. However it runs cooler and can be clocked higher than a CD.

In Leopard, being a true 64-bit OS, I'd imagine the performance gains will be higher as the C2D has 64-bit capabilities not found in the CD. There are no benchmarks to prove this though.

Look at some Vista CD vs C2D benchmarks to show the kind of gains you can expect. They should roughly translate to Leopard.
