spilt water on my macbookpro and now the keyboard doesn't work properly!

hi guys, hope somebody can help me!! i spilt water on my macbookpro and now the keys come up with different symbols at the moment i'm using an external keyboard at the moment. This is what my mac keyboard does : ƒ∂ßœ∑´®†¥˙∆˚˚øøµ~∫√ç≈Ωåß∂ƒ©˙∂∂¬πø^¨¥†®´∑œœ.
been through all the keyboard settings but it won't change.
Can anyone help???

You should turn it off and let it dry out (for several days to a week!) There's probably nothing else to be done.

i let it dry out, it all works correctly but when you press a key instead of coming up with A for example it comes up with å instead

Assuming what I've read about this is correct, all that's left is to talk to Apple.

My own curiosity ~ what happens when you press option A? (Since I get the symbol you referred to when pressing option A, I wonder if it works in reverse for you now.)

Hold the "option" or alt key and press the letter "a."
Are you using US english or UK?

this is crazy, all of a sudden this morning the keys are working fine! i can't understand it! they didn't work at all for a couple of weeks then the strange symbols started and when i'm about to take it back to apple to get it fixed it starts working fine! can't believe it.

crazy!

Sounds like it's dried out. You were lucky - normally that would write off the keyboard. Be more careful in future!

If you live near an Apple store, I would suggest allowing them to check it out anyway. Since water damage can haunt a laptop for months (even if you don't see anything wrong with your system for a while). Although there is the issue that spills aren't covered by the warranty...
