Network server automatically appears

Maybe I've never noticed this before but I just realized there is a network icon in my finder window that appears to connect to a server that has my computer name (eg MYNAME-computer.local). Is this normal? If so, what is it used for?
I've tried to eject the network since there is an eject icon but it doesn't work.
I'm a little worried that perhaps someone has hacked into my computer.
