Slow startup!

iBook 12.1" G4 1.33ghz 512RAM 40GB, iPod 2nd Gen 15GB
I got an ibook a few weeks ago from macsolutions and it works fine. I got my girlfriend the same kind and it takes about 1-2 minutes longer for it to start up, for some reason when mac os is loading there's no bar either (if that helps tell what the problem is).
also according to her things work slower in general on her laptop than on mine. keep in mind we have the exact same ibook g4 (same ram, cpu, etc).
i wonder how i can fix this?
the disk utility didnt seem to help

You can do a few things...

Use MainMenu and run all the tasks.
Defragment the hard drive with SpeedTools.
Rebuild the directory with DiskWarrior.
