Contents of Home Folder gone!!!

Hi!

I just installed a piece of software on my macbook pro, and then all the contents of my home folder are gone.

Is there any way to recover my files?

And which piece of software would that be?

It was smart board software 8.1.3 .

there is also a MyUsername_alias folder in my directory tree... but Im not sure if that was there before or not. It basically points to the same directory.

Tried spotlight search?

I did... it doesnt return anything!!!
I also did

ls -a

to list all contents of my home folder in the console, but nothing!!

Also, in my email program, everything is reset! It seems that my home folder was just wiped.

Any suggestions?

Did you by any chance manually change your home folder name? That's the usual symptom of renaming manually a Home account...

I know, I read a lot about this problem, but I didnt rename my home folder name.

I am starting to think this program you installed renamed or did something to your home folder. Something did it. You should not have 2 home folders there in users.

but my home folder has exactly the same name as before.
