Er, does anyone know exactly what the "Better Performance" option when you click on the battery bar at the top right suppose to mean?
It's a set of preferences. You should also have something called Better Battery Life, Normal, and possibly Custom. Each one has a different set of parameters when it comes to how energy is used. In other words, it affects the settings for when the display is put to sleep or when to shut down the hard drives.
Better Performance is pretty much the one where everything is left on whereas Better Battery Life tries to limit things as much as possible.
To get a better reading for the parameters of each setting, go to System Preferences --> Energy Saver and click on each of the presets to see where the sliders are.
