HTML code is HTML code, no matter which computer platform or computer model you use. HTML code is meant to be platform, computer brand and OS independent.
So me thinks your code isn't written properly and that it isn't your MacBook that's acting up.

According to the W3C, ALT data is supposed to appear only when an image fails to load. Images, like links, should make use of the TITLE attribute in order to have text appear in an onMouseOver "tool tip."
Given the variance in proper support by various browsers, I generally use both attributes in my designs.
