Glossy, matte?

Which is best for protecting against eye strain?

And if glossy is bad for your eyes, what if you had an anti-reflective cover for the screen (and take it off when working on graphics, etc., and not reading for long hours)?

With the technology these days I don't think it matters which version you get. The only thing I do suggest is some common sense. Don't stare at your computer screen for hours on end. Take time to look into the distance so your eyes can focus on something farther away.

Probably adjusting the screen brightness and taking breaks once an hour are the best ways no matter what screen you have, but if I were to choose one, I would say go with matte. Glossy screens cause glare and you have to strain more to see through the glare and read your screen. That would definitely fatigue your vision faster.

It makes everything negative...

I have no idea why they put that feature in, it is completely useless.

Yoiks, guys. It's in the preferences, both in Keyboard & Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts, and in Universal Access.

It's part of the universal access settings and is intended to help people with vision problems to see things easier.
