new MBP will not recognize files on external HDD

I put all my transfer files - music, pictures, docs etc onto my external HDD. Now, I know Mac wont write to ntfs, but my files or not showing up when i plug the HDD to the Mac. A few files show up, but the vast majority do not.

I have 4 folders on the HDD: My stuff, wifes stuff, music, pictures. Wifes stuff and pictures show up, but the others do not.

Ay deas?

Your Mac's Specs
13" white 2.16Ghz, 2Gb ram, 120gb hd
is your HD setup as NTFS or fat32... if NTFS it can read the drive but it won't be able to write to it...

i know it cannot write to it, but I just want to transfer the files off of it. It is NTFS.
