The Network Icon in my system was giving me the message that: "You cannot open network preferences pane on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version." The updater did not give me a new version.
In a desperate attempt to solve this problem i accidentally removed the icon from the preference pane. So now my problem is worse.
