USB to Serial not enough power?

I'm running the MBP with parallel desktop and XP. I have a program that require a serial connection. I'm using the same USB to Serial cable that I used to use on my dell notebook. The prolific USB to serial driver installed just fine on the XP PD however, when I try to execute the application it crashes.

All ports are set correctly. Does the MB USB port not have enough power?

It works with mine what are you connecting with the serial?
