Question about SheepShaver

Hey all,
I've just downloaded SheepShaver to emulate OS 9 and run some of my old games... however, whenever I run it and insert a DVD-ROM it does not pop up on the desktop. It does run CD-ROMs, however. I am running it on a MacBook. Thanks!

What kind of performance do you get with it?
And is it worth all the hassle of getting it to work? Cause I have a few apps I'd like to be able to use on OS 9. Cause I tried it on my old imac as a trial run and it was slow and not really worth it. But now I have a new imac and am just wondering.
