Moving iPod from PC to Mac

I'm sure this has been asked before but i cant seem to find where.

I have a 30 gig iPod video that is formatted for windows. I recently bought my first mac, a macbook and have been trying to re-format my iPod to work with my macintosh but when i restore it to factory settings it stays formatted for windows. please help me.

Did you try that? Be sure to click restore and not update.

yeah i did that, but it didnt change from windows format. after the restore, it was still in windows format.
