need compatible recorder for class

I generally got to use a tape recorder in HS for classes. I'm taking a few classes locally while I'm deferred elsewhere. I nee a tape recorder that I can download to my macbook pro. It doesnt really need to be a taper recorder per se, but I need to be able to recoard lectures during class and then would like to download in to my mbp. Anything out there like this? The cheaper the better, but I'm willing to spend on a quality item. Thanks so much guys!

Could you just open up GarageBand and record through the internal mic?

unfortunately not. i need to be able to place the recorder on the profs desk for the lecture. so far it looks like olympus is the only one that has some mac os x compatible models. anyone have experince with those?
