first off, i apologize if this is the wrong forum. i searched for a similar topic and didn't find any.

when i open my system preferences
and i click on this tab
the system prefs closes out saying it quit unexpectedly

this problem started when i set my itunes artwork as my screen saver and was adjusting the settings

how can i fix this? i don't care if i have my itunes artwork as my screen saver or not. i'd like to, but i'm fine with 'lotsa water' which is what i had previously.
i also would like to change my desktop background which i believe i am currently unable to do since it closes out without giving me a chance to do anything.

thank you.

Sounds like a corrupt preference file.

Go here: ~/Library/Preferences
And delete this file: com.apple.desktop.plist
And empty the trash.

Now reopen the preference pane and see if that helps any.

You can try uninstalling any screen savers you put in...

~/Library/Screen Savers/
Move them all to the desktop for the time being. Then try opening the preference pane again.

It could be that one of them is acting badly, or its own preferences are broken.

the only one in there, the only one i've downloaded is 'lotsawater'

i moved that to the desktop and when i tried to access the 'desktop & screen saver' tab it again closed out.

the initial time it closed out was when i was changing the settings on my itunes artwork. so i believe the problem may lie there.

this happened before last year shortly after i got my macbook with the same itunes artwork, but i believe i was still able to access the tab just not set the itunes artwork as my screensaver or it would close out

thanks again for the help, ha, please stay with me.

Then move that screen saver as well. Find it here:
/System/Library/Screen Savers/

Then open sys prefs again.

I'd move back all of the other things you moved, and see if it still works.
If so, change your screen saver preferences and close system prefs.
Then move iTunes Artwork saver back to where it belongs.
Now open screen saver preferences again... does it work?

I am having the exact same problem with the itunes screen saver.

although when i go to my library i can not find a screen saver folder to then find the itunes screen saver.

where else can i find this itunes screen saver to remove it, since its causing all these problems.

You were looking in the Screen Savers folder of the Library folder inside your user folder.

That is for the screen savers that you have installed. (so only you can use them)

The default Apple screen savers are in the Screen Savers folder of the Library folder at Macintosh HD. (This Library is for settings and files that are shared between all users of the computer.)

So basically, it's at:

/Library/Screen Savers

(the first / = Macintosh HD)
