Boot Camp 1.4 vs. 1.2

I was wondering I have XP and boot camp working and everything but I just noticed that boot camp is now 1.4, I have version 1.2. Does this make a difference? Is the 1.4 really better than the 1.2 version. If i want to update it, does it mean that i have to reinstall Windows again?

No, you won't have to reinstall Windows. It'll update the Boot Camp Assistant and you can get all the benefits by making a new driver disc and installing that while in Windows.

Boot Camp 1.3 offered the following updates:

* Support for keyboard backlighting (MacBook Pro only)
* Apple Remote pairing
* Updated graphics drivers
* Improved Boot Camp driver installer
* Improved international keyboard support
* Localization fixes
* Updated Windows Help for Boot Camp

And version 1.4b has the following updates:

* Support for keyboard backlighting (MacBook Pro only)
* Apple Remote pairing
* Updated graphics drivers
* Improved Boot Camp driver installer
* Improved international keyboard support
* Localization fixes
* Updated Windows Help for Boot Camp

So pretty much 1.4 offers some fixes and improvements over previous versions. If you find that you need any of those features, then go ahead and upgrade. I personally think you should simply for the updated drivers.

In terms of features, I wouldn't expect too many changes, but since this is a beta, most of the changes are just bug fixes.

there are some fixes and upgrades
there is now a bootcamp control pannel
the brightness, sound, etc keys now work without pressing FN
but does anyone know if it fixed the idle standby or time bug?
