Hi everybody,

does any of you guys know if the sockets of the single 1.25 CPU board and the dual 1.42 CPU board are the same?
I'm talking about the last PowerMac G4, 167MHz FSB and OS9-bootable. I know that the dual 1.42 has a different mainboard, but same FSB..even the CPU's are mainly the same (PPC 7455B), just running at different speeds.

Allthough I'm quite happy actually with my single 1.25, it would be nice to know if I can upgrade it later on... :D

Thanx in advance for any answer...

you should be able too because the processor is on the daughter card so it might take you 5-10 min to install a dual 1.42 or a dual 1.6 if you wish.

Thanx for your fast answers...

To hype.it:
It's a recent PowerMac G4 MDD, the one that came out after the FW800 models. It's the last PM G4 produced by Apple, they stopped production 2-3weeks ago...
Thx for the link, allthough it's mostly aimed to older models

To beret9987:
Yeah, that's what I thought too, but wasn't really sure if the connector on the daughterboard and motherboard are the same on single CPU models and dual CPU...
Dual 1.6??? Where can I get that? I thought the highest dual G4 from Apple was 1.42?!?
