External HD Recommendations?

Hey all, I am looking for an external firewire 800 HD that I am going to dedicate to recording. There are so many brands out there that I thought I should ask for opinions on which ones are superior. Thanks!

I have a Western Digital MyBook Pro 250gb and i love it so far.... it was about 160$ i believe.

you can always go to newegg.com find an enclosure and a compatible hard drive and build your own.
I recently bought a 320gig seagate drive (with a 5 year warranty on the drive) and a an enclosure which cost me about 105.00 total. I've got 2 firewire 400 ports and one usb 2.0 (it may be two, I'll check, lol).
It's really all about what you're wanting out of your drive.

well seeing as he wanted firewire 800 its not what he wanted

i have a westendigital 1TB HDD with firewire 800 400 and usb. works great.


so id reccomend that.

I like the 'Disk Maxi'. It's really small, but comes in sizes like 500GB, and with two different colors, it will match either the old iMac, or the new one.

Wow, rude.

I was suggesting an avenue that the OP could go down, not suggesting he/she follow my exact setup to the letter. You can find an internal drive and an enclosure WITH firewire 800 quite easily on newegg.
If the OP decides to go in this direction I'd be glad to share further.
Just trying to help.
