New Member with a question on monitors

Hello all.
I have an old Graphite G4 which I am now wanting to hook up to an inexpensive compatible 21" flat screen monitor.
So, what do you suggest?
Can I buy a suitable monitor from The High Street?

You'll probably need to find a ADC to DVI adapter (and possibly DVI to VGA for the cheaper monitors [easy]). I don't think ADC to DVI adapters are made anymore, so it might be tricky finding one... saying that, I think my dad's got one, so I might be able to help you out if you get stuck.

If you post your machines exact specs and which monitor you're thinking of buying I'll be more specific in exactly what you'll need.

Ok, well the good news is (which I should have figured earlier... having one of those days ) it doesn't need an ADC adapter.

Also, the connector you describe is a VGA connector, meaning any older display (and some of the cheaper new ones) should work fine without any sort of adapter.

It also looks like (from Wikipedia and Mactracker) that your graphics card also includes a DVI port (rectangular, with more pins); meaning any new monitor should also connect with ease.

So you should be able to connect anything you like to that thing without modification

That's a bit more encouraging. I've worked with Macs for 10 years, but they can still be a bit daunting when it comes to peripherals, for me anyway! I have a strange adapter which is the same on both sides?! I'll take that to a shop and see what they say!
