Ok, so you haven't yet got round to getting the NEW aluminium iMac?

Well, you know, I was planning to slam down $3000 for the thing today, but I just forgot...

but to each his own, if it floats your boat than oh well :)

Ok, so you haven't yet got round to getting the NEW aluminium iMac?. No problem - watch this video, as a guy breaks the seal, cracks open the box, and performs an unmissable "unboxing" of the 20" alu iMac:

http://unboxing.gearlive.com/

Or drop a VERY high res version of the video, into VLC/Quicktime, @:

http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mov?http://blip.tv/file/get/Unboxing-UnboxingLive023TheNewAppleIMac796.mov

Wow. are you serious? and you complain about people using the word "Dang"? and then you create a thread of a guy opening a box? :|

And I thought I needed to get a life! Had me on the edge of my seat...not. Although I was wondering if he might accidently cut himself (or perhaps on purpose) when he borrowed the guy's knife. By far the highlight of the piece.

Do Geek Squad dudes even repair Macs? Does anyone care?

Ummm, you would think an "unboxing" site would have a box opener somewhere. Definitely time to shut down and off to bed. Yawn.

I thought unboxing videos were lame until I wanted to buy a Macbook of my own and got quite excited about it. I wanted to wait a while until I got the right price, so I needed something to keep me from spending all my money on an impulsive purchase. The unboxing of a Macbook videos I found were just nice to watch for this reason. Watching these types of videos is a bit strange, I agree, but sometimes there's a reason behind it.

There are a lot of differing reasons, why one would watch the video. If you know what I mean, then I don't need to explain, but if you don't understand the excitement and enthusiasm for Apple that some people like myself have, then expect Steve Jobs to kick you out of any job interview - he would.

PS: found some MORE unboxing pics from another site

I think is a great idea for people considering a new purchase, to watch the whole unboxing process: saves questions about "what do I get with the iMac" and "does the Front Row remote still come included" etc.

That statement is completely ignorant. I think watching someone else's unboxing video hardly is a sign of your enthusiasm for Apple products. IMHO it's a sign of something else.

Do you work for Apple? Did Steve ask if you watched unboxing videos?

OMG, look at me opening my new possession - the only way I can get any status is this world is by having people admire what I own...

... this guy needs to meditate and think about Impermanence.

Why are people being so mean? It's something special opening something you've paid a lot of money for, especially when it's something as nicely packaged and put together as a Mac.

Personally, I think that gushing over material objects is pretty de-humanising. One of the reasons I switched to Apple is because it's products are functional and beautiful, whereas in PC enthusiast circles it's all about the latest processor and GFX card - which is technological willy waving.

People should not feel the need to broadcast pictures of opening their lastest purchase for the same reason people don't broadcast pictures of their bank statements.

I actually find it cute to see one post about someone being very proud of the unboxing moment: heck I took pictures of my opening of the iMac G5 I own.

But seeing 20 threads about the same unboxing a new iMac subject or an endless thread where someone posts 20 bijillion links to unboxing picts highly irritates me.

I really dig the new iMac looks but now I just want to stop looking at it for a while and will avoid all the picture threads about it all together.

It was cool to watch and there is nothing wrong with watching it, especially if you are curious on what the iMac looks like and are thinking of getting one.

I was watching a MacPro video a while ago where they showed two guys putting ram into one, that was interesting. That computer was very well put together, no wiring getting in the way like on PCs.
