I use my MacBook Pro primarily for school work I am a communication major and I use iTunes and iMovie quite a bit. I currently only have 512MB of memory on it, and was looking to add another gig on top of it. Also my hard drive is 75GB with 30GB available. I will be using it a lot in upcoming months for video editing and maybe getting Final Cut Pro. What would be the best way to maximize my hard drive space so I can get the best use out of it and have my Macbook running smoothly?

Why don't you get a Firewire 800 external hard drive?

If you're looking to upgrade the RAM, just go the whole way and get 2gigs (2x1gig sticks). 2 reasons for this: firstly, your machine will run significantly quicker with 2 gigs running Video editing software; secondly , having uneven RAM sticks can affect performance.

As for the HDD situation, I second the external Firewire drive.
