• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I've read that the new imovie software supports more video formats. I've tried capturing video from a Digital 8 source in the old version, but it couldn't do it. Does anyone know if the new imovie supports the Digital 8 media?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I'd have to go back & double-check, but I'm pretty sure it was a firewire plug. So the hook-ups are all fine. I just want to know if the software is compatible before I rush out to upgrade, because the current version of imovie (I think it's '06) won't capture my video.

I have a mini dvd cam and imovie 06 doesnt recognize it...so I have to go through media fork then import it. Take your cam with you and use it at the apple store to be sure.
