My question is this:
What would be the most efficient way to backup 5 Mac computers to a Windows 200 server which runs a backup routine?
The issue I am having at the moment is that authentication rears its ugly head at every moment when trying to connect to the Windows server.
An alternative method could be to copy the necessary folders to a Mapped drive Z: on the server, but what would be the best way to do that that would easily not have to deal with the authentication issue?
Or is there a backup solution that would allow me to choose the folders on the Macs and then back them up to the Win 2K server.
Macs are accessible from the Windows network via a workgroup with no problems.
TIA

You should set up a share point on the mac, being the directory you want to back up. Then have your backup routine on the windows machine mount that share, do the backup, the unmount it.

I set up something similar with a Linux box. It's been running for a few years autonomously! I get an email in the morning withouth fail [knock on wood].

Beware of the possiblity of resource fork corruption. It is real, and it isn't forgiving.

Yeah - if it's a backup share, make it have read-only rights.

Ideally, backup to a dmg file and upload the dmg file to the Windows server.
dmg's will keep existing permissions and any resource forks etc.
