I didn't get that far yet, i.e. I only had one file saved in Office 07 format to test.

I am new the Mac world (only been in it since March 07). Is it better to get iWork or wait for Office 2008 for Mac?

Would iWork use my Excel formulas?

Download the trial and try your excel formulas. See if it works.

That is what I am doing. Installing it now.

I have 2 hrs left before I can install it.

Yes, it's quite a download. Mine is barely finishing up, took about 45 minutes using Camino. When I was using Safari it said 2 hrs.

The improvements seem overall meh-worthy to be honest. Apart from Numbers, going from not existing, to existing.

Tried it. Numbers does exactly what I need it to do and worth the wait. I read in my Excel spreadsheets. All worked fine. Exported some to Excel and opened them in NeoOffice and Excel. Worked great. I will purchase it next month.

With Microsoft delaying Office 2008, and cancelling VBA...the list of reasons to buy MS Office just got a lot shorter.

I think I'll be picking up this version.

I'm curious, do all spreadsheets use the exact same formulas and symbols? It seems like the only way files could be converted properly given how complicated a spreadsheet can be. How about macros and shortcuts? I'm still skeptical about this compaibility between Excel and Numbers. I suppose I'll have to try to trial after my MBP gets its new logic board.

Completely unrelated - but - what gives you that Envelope icon at top near the clock?

I'm likeing the look of iWork08 and the price doesn't seem so bad. I also think the price on those new iMacs is pretty sweet as well - I really wish I hadn't recently spent cash on a Vista powered desktop, which at the time I though I needed, as it turns out I use my MacBook for 95% of my computing needs...

In a related question...I work with extremely large spreadsheets of data (100,000 rows) and my MBP sometimes runs Excel a bit slow in Office '04. Can I expect noticeably speedier performance from iWork than Office?

Thanks.
