ok so i press the switch on the back of the imac to turn on. it gets past the apple and spinning disk stage and then where the normal loading bar should be with a blue background i just get a spinning disc (not a coloured one) with the same blue background.

I have tried booting into safe mode and getting rid of the log in items but no luck.

i have tried reseting the pram but no luck.

i have tried booting with the ethernet cable unpligeed but no luck

any ideas would be gladly received.. THANKS

Can you boot the system with your install media? This would rule out hardware problems.
