I'm new to the Mac world and I'm just having my first problem. I'm trying to install Windows via Boot Camp, but every time I try to partition the disk, I get an error that says I need to repair the disk using Disk Utility.

So, I open up Disk Utility and select my hard drive. However, the repair disk button is grayed out. I can only repair disk permissions and verify disk. So, I do both, and after I verify, I get this message:

Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
9 %)
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Its nothing major, and an easy fix. Not sure what causes it, but you need to restart with the install disks in your cd drive, while it restarts, hold down the C key.

Once the installer loads, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, and tell it to repair your disk.
