Switching External Hard drives & Graphic links

Hi - I currently use Quark, Indesign, etc. the usual graphic software. I have been using an external hard drive for all my publications -- it's getting old and I bought a new one to switch to. I used a cloning software to copy stuff to it - worked great -- but the graphic links in the publications still point to the old hard drive. Migratory software on new mac OS only works if there's system software on the drive you're migrating to. UGH. Anybody have any ideas? aside from the old fashioned way of going through and re-linking everything by hand??? very time consuming...
