• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I found this pretty cool program called Drive-in. It's from the same people who created the Flip4Mac program. The Drive-in program allows you to make a direct copy of a DVD or audio CD. The copy is tied to your registration information so you can only play the movies on your computers.

It's only in beta right now but I can't wait for it to come out so I can buy it. I'll probably have to invest in an external hard drive since each copy is around 8GB.

Anyone else love this program as much as me?

So what happens when get a new Mac... you have to copy everything again? Or will it update it's info when you input your registration info on your new Mac?

Personally I wouldn't pay for something that does with DRM what a free application will do without DRM (and it's no more legal than any other DVD copying program: it's still an unlicensed copy, whether it's got DRM attached to it or not).
