I was wondering if anyone knows of any good free spyware removal softwares for MACs.
If there are none, what do you guys think of MacSecure?

Thank you!

There is no Spyware for the Mac, so no Spyware removal App is needed.

This isn't Windows.

There is a Spyware removal program for Macs called MacScan. Its usefulness is dubious, however, since it mostly removes tracking cookies, which some people consider spyware. This can just as easily be done by emptying your cookies. Since there is no known executables that would be considered Spyware for a Mac, I see little reason to buy MacScan (which is a pay-for product).

Thanks everyone for your replies!
I can rest easy now - my only concern was with regards to peer-2-peer software (Transmission) on my mac and potential issues.
Thanks again!

No issues there... in fact... if you DID get a virus... Keep it!!! You'd be famous and could probably make quite a bit of money because of it.

I actually HOPE to get a virus! :D:D:D

Well, that's a different story. Transmission is a BitTorrent client, which is probably more difficult to police, but if you are downloading questionable content via a P2P system, be aware that Spyware isn't needed to track your behavior.

Another thing to remember, you can download files with Windows Virus's. They won't hurt your Mac at all as long as you are in OSX, but if you give those files to friends with PC's, you will infect them if they are not protected. It will do nothing to your OSX though.

Thanks cwa107 for the heads up. Nothing questionable, only music and anime.

dtravis7 - now i've the power to get even with some friends ;p

I got my iMac last June due to my wife's insistance, and i must say that i don't regret it at all. However, having been a windows based user for the longest time, it just takes a little getting used to.

But because they'll stand out like a sore thumb on your Mac, and can't distribute themselves, you'd have to purposely give them it.
