What program i should use ?

Hello all again i have a mac for a few days only so i was wondering what is the best alternative for:
1. Microsoft office ? ( free , opensource ... )
2. Image editing ( free , opensource ... )

1. OpenOffice or NeoOffice

2. Gimp

What is diference between Openofice and Neo ?

Also wanted to ask can Microsoft office open ( Openoffice or neooffice ) files ?
I mean if i create a exel file with open office or neo office would i be able to read it and edit with microsoft office ? and if i create microsoft office file can i read it with open or neo office ?

microsoft office can open the files no problem just save them as .docs / .doc

and what about exel files ? and Presentations ?

Open office does those too!

You'll also need to use X11 in order to use GIMP... To be honest with you though... you MIGHT not be quite ready for installing that. If you're still interested.... READ THROUGH THIS

Oh i saw that but how to download from that links , they just give me direct files no installers ? Or i should copy all files to my pc and then run ?
