My powerbook g4 just gave out and my dad is buying me a macbook. Hes paying 1700 and the rest I have to pay. I plan on getting a blackbook and getting 2gb of ram (non apple) and the applecare protection plan. All apple products seem to break after 1 year. I need to find the cheapest way to purchase this. Apple education discount? but apple charges tax and that makes up for the 200 rebate. Any help is appreciated.

MacMall. I've purchased both of my Macs there and had good experiences both times.

Well, my almost 2 year old iMac is still running fine. The 5 iMacs I installed in work a year ago are still working fine. My 3 year old iBook is still working. Dad's 7yr old powerbook still works.

If you're worried about money, get the white Macbook and upgrade it to the black's specs.
