Hey guys,
Im looking into smcfancontrol and want to ask u guys a few things....

if i set my fans at a min of 3000 rpm, will they increase to lets say 6000 when im using programs that take up more cpu than 3000 rpm would cool?

also does using this program void the warrenty?

Using the program does nothing to void the warranty as it sets the minumum fan speed. And yes, the fan will go higher ie: from 3000 to 6000 if your temperature rises due to heavy use. Remember the firmware/cpu will shut the system down if it gets too hot to avoid system damage. I use it on my MBP and my Mini (Intel) and have found it is great for keeping both systems running at about 130 degrees F when idle. I hit 170 the other day on the MBP when doing some sync work with .mac and the fans jumped up from 1520 to 5000 to reduce the heat. Everything went back to my preset of 1520 after about 5 minutes when the CPU intensive sync was complete. Hope that helps!
