• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

after trying Handbrake. It copies my movie and turns it into an mp4 file. I try to open with quick time and it tells me that it's not a movie. i try to drop it into final cut and it gives me this error: IDENTIFIER.mp4” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048
i feel like i'm missing a step?!>
any serious tech help could make my life better.

If you could give a little more detail about what's happening. does handbrake seem to work the whole movie, or is it only getting part of it. If a DVD has protection in place that handbrake can't get around it will quit after only a half a percent or so, but sometimes will show a created file.
