Epson is printing is really slow

I just got a new iMac (intel based), and one of my printers is printing really slow. It took about 10 minutes to print a simple word document. The printer is an epson stylus photp R1800. I'm currently using the "Epson Stylus new Cups 1.1" drivers since that is the only one that works right now. I'v tried to install the drivers from the cd, but they don't show up in the list under either Epson or EPS. I've also tried using the latest at epsons website (3.0AaS) and the program installs successfully but still nothing happens and no new drivers are listed. Any Suggestions?
