I'm a noob here so please bear with me if I miss off anything important...
I have an iMac G5 running OS X 10.4.10 and I can no longer get it started as it hangs on the initial grey screen. I get the startup chime and then the grey screen appears. After about 5 mins I get a folder icon appear that has a flashing system icon (the one with the 2-colour smiley face) and question mark on it. Any ideas how to get past / repair this?
Sometimes it does not hang on this screen and makes it through to the light grey screen with the dark grey apple logo. But then the fan goes into overdrive and it hangs there indefintiely.
Please help as I need a machine to use.
Other info that might be useful:
2 yr old machine, screen size 21", installed the Quicktime and itunes updates before this began.
Thanks in advance!
